Maritime shipping is the largest and most conventional type of logistics in the world. Since 2013 the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) has been brought into action enforcing the maritime industry to reduce the level of GreenHouse Gas (GHG) emissions as a result of their shipping operations. Since there is a direct relation between fuel consumption and GHG emissions this indirectly means the maritime industry has to cut back on their fuel consumption.
The VPARS solution provides vessel charterers (large oil, chemical, shipping companies for instance) with the possibility to analyse the performance of the chartered vessels, tracking their operational time and observing their fuel consumption within the course of their voyage. VPARS, while regarding real time vessel values, measures a voyage’s performance and hereof is able to issue operational and financial reports. With VPARS it is possible for ship-owners, operators and charterers to track a vessel’s fuel consumption, speed values and it’s values of the operational time to accordingly locate anomalous values.
